New Drugs for Respiratory diseases
Do you have experience with in-vivo models of disease? Are you interested in respiratory diseases? Do you want to learn how to develop new therapeutics?
If so, then we’re looking for you.
This PhD scholarship is funded jointly between NSW Health and the University of Technology Sydney, and was specifically created to train people in pre-clinical drug development.
See https://www.uts.edu.au/scholarship/nsw-health-and-uts-science-partnership-phd-scholarship
The successful applicant would work jointly with one of the best respiratory groups worldwide (respiratoryresearchgroup.org), led by Prof Brian Oliver, and the leading respiratory pharmaceutical company within Australia, Pharmaxis (www.pharmaxis.com.au).
In your PhD you would work in labs in both institutions, and contribute to the preclinical development program of novel therapeutics developed by both Pharmaxis and the Respiratory Research Group.
We are happy to train you in all areas, but it is ideal if you have an honours or masters degree in which you have experience with in-vivo models (of any disease). Cell and tissue analysis techniques are desirable, as is undergraduate pharmacology.
